In anticipation of the final survey of the IHM, and only prior to shipowner’s decision regarding ship recycling, it is necessary to develop the second part of the IHM. A ship intended for recycling shall carry out operations in the period prior to entry into the Ship Recycling Facility in such a way as to minimise the amount of cargo residues functionally produced waste.

With this in view, the second part of the IHM is structured. Where the waste listed in Part II of the list provided in “Table C (potentially hazardous species)” in Appendix 1 to the Regulation is intended for delivery by vessel to a ship recycling facility, the amount of waste generated operationally should be estimated and its approximate quantities and locations should be listed in Part II of the reserve.
